Willow Bough

Designed in the NETHERLANDS

According to his daughter May, the "Willow Bough" design began with a walk. She was strolling with her father along the small stream near Kelmscott that flows into the Thames, when he pointed out "the details and the variation in the leaf shapes" of the willow trees. Shortly thereafter, the wallpaper was complete. The result is not merely a decorative take on a willow, but an accurate representation: narrow, overlapping leaves supported by thin brown stems that run diagonally throughout the entire pattern.

Morris believed that a good pattern should "unmistakably evoke gardens and fields." "Willow Bough" does exactly that, and it became one of the most popular wallpapers from Morris & Co. (the V&A even calls it the most popular one). It was block-printed by hand by Jeffrey & Co. and has been in production since 1887.

The design on the sock remains understated: a cream-colored base, reminiscent of the background of the wallpaper, featuring green leaves and reddish-brown branches. Knitted in rather than printed, the colors are woven into the fabric, ensuring they will not fade.

Wonderfully soft: organic cotton ensures soft, durable socks, kind to both your skin and the environment. Wash-resistant colors: your socks will continue to look fresh and vibrant, even after countless washes. Seamless comfort: no irritating, chafing seams, enjoy smooth, all-day comfort, even when wearing tight-fitting shoes. Reinforced heel and toe: extra durability in the areas most prone to wear, so you can enjoy your favorite socks for longer.
