Pomegranate
'Pomegranate'—listed simply as 'Fruit' in the Morris & Co. catalogue—is one of the first three wallpaper designs created by William Morris in the 1860s, alongside 'Trellis' and 'Daisy'. It is also one of his most opulent: branches of fruit trees intertwine, featuring split-open pomegranates, oranges, lemons, peaches, small blossoms, and dense foliage.
As early as 1899, his first biographer described it as "the beloved and beautiful pattern known as the Pomegranate." An early sketch included olives, but as they did not repeat well, they were replaced by peaches. The wallpaper was block-printed using distemper paint—applied colour by colour, with a separate block for each individual hue.
We selected the blue colourway: a light-blue base serving as the background, overlaid with fruit and foliage in shades of green, ochre, and red. Knitted into the fabric rather than printed, the colours are woven directly into the sock, ensuring they will not fade.
Wonderfully soft: organic cotton ensures soft, durable socks, kind to both your skin and the environment. Wash-resistant colors: your socks will continue to look fresh and vibrant, even after countless washes. Seamless comfort: no irritating, chafing seams, enjoy smooth, all-day comfort, even when wearing tight-fitting shoes. Reinforced heel and toe: extra durability in the areas most prone to wear, so you can enjoy your favorite socks for longer.
