Dichter bij de seizoenen
In the unique children's poetry collection 'Closer to the seasons' the reader experiences a year in nature from a bird's eye view. This attractive collection contains a suitable poem for every season and every month. What makes these poems extra special is that they are all written in different verse forms. For example, language artist Bette Westera wrote a specht for May, in which a woodpecker hacks a hole in the tree, for October a rondette in which a hedgehog makes a safe bed of leaves, and for January a sonnet in which ducks go into baths while quacking. In addition to the seasonal poems, the collection also explains the different verse forms and tips for playing with language yourself. Each season opens with a beautiful haiku. Award-winning illustrator Henriette Boerendans brings the rich poems to life with her striking woodcuts.
'Closer to the Seasons' is a special collaboration between award-winning author Bette Westera and top illustrator Henriette Boerendans. They previously worked together on the impressive alphabet book 'Aap Beer Zebra' (nominated for the Woutertje Pieterse Prize) and 'I want to become a cradle, said the willow'. 'Closer to the Seasons' is suitable for readers aged 9 and over.
