On a cold November night in 1994, the dead body of a young woman is found in the village of Marbäck. She appears to have been killed. A perpetrator is quickly appointed: Edvard Christensson had a relationship with the woman and, like his father, was notorious for his uplifting character. Edvard is sentenced and the peace returns to the village. But not for Edward's cousin Isak, who fears that he is "bad" just like his uncle and grandfather.
Ten years later, Vidar, who helped as a young police officer in the investigation and arrest of Edvard, often remembers the case. And when he speaks again with Isak, who has been arrested after a theft, his doubts about the old investigation are growing.
Then Isak suddenly disappears and Vidar goes looking for what really happened on that cold November night.
