Jonna (9) lives in a children's home and, like the other children there, hopes that one day she will be adopted by a mother with beautiful clothes and fragrant perfume. But things are different: one morning a rusty Volvo tears up the neatly raked driveway of the orphanage, containing the almost two meter long Gorilla. She wants to adopt a child and chooses Jonna of all people!
Gorilla takes Jonna to the old, empty factory where she lives. Gorilla is big and rude and smells like a monkey - at first Jonna doesn't want to know anything about her. But her unusual foster mother turns out to be very sweet. Just as she begins to feel at home Jonna threatens to be sent back to the orphanage. But Jonna and Gorilla don't give in just like that.
